A Prayer for the Feast Day of Thomas Cranmer

Merciful God, who through the work of Thomas Cranmer didst renew the worship of thy Church by restoring the language of the people, and through whose death didst reveal thy power in human weakness: Grant that by thy grace we may always worship thee in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate, who livest and reignest with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  1. MichaelA says:

And what a mighty work it was. The supreme works of doctrine which he engendered and at least initially oversaw – the Book of Common Prayer, the Articles of Religion and the Ordinal – remain of enormous influence throughout the world.

They are often imitated, even by those who profess to disagree with them, yet most imitations rarely come close to the power of biblical truth of the originals.
